NOURISHING MINDS

Empowering Women to Snack Smart and Eat Well—For Life.

BEGIN YOUR JOURNEY

Program Mission

Nourishing Minds aims to promote healthier eating habits among sorority women at Emory University by providing education, cultivating peer support, and ensuring accessible resources. Through workshops, partnerships, and engaging activities, the program seeks to empower young women to make balanced dietary choices that improve their overall well-being during and beyond college.

Grounded in Research Designed for You

Nourishing Minds is built upon the foundations of Social Cognitive Theory (SCT) and the Health Belief Model (HBM), combined with the Social Ecological Model (SEM) to address the unique challenges sorority women face in achieving balanced nutrition. Research shows that college-aged women are more likely to adopt healthy behaviors when they feel confident in their ability to make changes, are aware of the risks of poor dietary habits, and have accessible, actionable strategies.

Our program leverages these insights by providing hands-on workshops, collaborative events, and tools that break through common barriers such as time constraints, cost, and social pressures. Nourishing Minds fosters self-efficacy through education and skill-building, offers cues to action through engaging events and peer support, and creates an environment that reinforces positive habits. Each activity is designed to align with the needs of busy students, making small, sustainable changes both realistic and rewarding.
